Sonja Laivinieks is the
Sunshine Artist!

Sonja was born in Chicago, Illinois with cerebral palsy.  She has overcome many disabilities since her birth.  She did not walk or talk for the first 4 years of her life.  There were many surgeries with body casts that lasted 6 months at a time.

Sonja completed her high school education in Chicago, Illinois and her interest in painting began in Cuernavaca, Mexico around 2005.  Sonja's passion are flowers and appear in most of her works.

Sonja has studied with several re-known artists of Mexico and world fame such as Frida Chida, Frida Kessler, Emil Tasoada and at present is learning and studying the art of alebrejes with Patricia Alvarez.

Sonja's work has had limited exposure to the public in Acapulco, Mexico City and Cuernavaca.  Her work has also received 1st place in a group exhibition in Cuernavaca as well as shown on local television in Cuernavaca.
